Ellen Ripley

Lt. Ellen Ripley is third in the chain of command on board the starship 'Nostromo'. Outranking her is Cpt. Dallas and Kane. Ellen Ripley is not the most-liked on board the ship. She is bossy and wants to control everything. She also has a bad habit of showing up and asking lots of annoying questions.
The Alien gets onboard the 'Nostromo' because Ash, the science-officer, don't obey Ripley's orders. But when the alien gets loose on the ship, things change drastically. Ripley takes on a kind of 'leader' role and reacts faster than Dallas and is more eager to do something fast. She has a stubborn belife that she will be able to flush the alien out before it can do more damage. This is her attitude even when person after person disappears. It's not until the end, when she, Parker and Lambert is evacuating, she takes on a more humble attitude.
What saves Ripley through every movie, is her instinct to survive, a primitive force with blooms inside her. Wild panic, fear, instinct and luck is the magic formula. A little hate too. Ripley has the determination to wipe out the alien, even if it means taking out herself. She was ready for that in 'Alien' and did it in 'Aliens'...
